Bantam Chickens and Pekin Ducks
Our families have been showing chickens and ducks for years now. Not only do they provide fresh eggs (which you can buy at our country store!) and meat, but they are too cute! We raise:
- Rhode Island Reds (meat and eggs)
- Golden Comets (meat and eggs)
- Bantam Silkies (for eggs and showing)
- Bantam Cochins (for eggs and showing)
- Japanese Black-Tailed Bantams (showing only-their eggs are tiny!)
- Pekin Ducks (for eggs and showing-we don't eat duck!)
Japanese Black-Tailed Rooster
This is Big Bird. Even though he is actually our smallest bird, reach inside his cage and you'll know why we call him Big Bird!
Birchen Bantam Cochin
This is Matt Hardy, a birchen bantam cochin. He has a twin brother, Jeff Hardy. (Yes, that's where the names come from!) They are a rare color for cochins. They have won 1st and 2nd place at the fair for the last 2 years. They are both kind, gentle boys. Their hens, however, are not so nice!
Rhode Island Reds
These guys don't know roosters don't get along!
Bantam Silkies
You should see the looks we get at the fair when we're fluffing these guys with a blow dryer for the show!
